Unfortunately, drug abuse takes a toll on lives, families, and can wreak havoc in the workplace. According to a national survey, more than 60% of adults know someone who has gone to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol. That adds up to higher absenteeism, more workers’ compensation claims, and lower productivity.
Custody battles can be difficult, especially when a child’s safety and welfare are at risk. In cases where there is evidence of illegal drug use or abuse of alcohol or other controlled substances, the court may seek ways to ensure the parent is capable of responsibly caring for their child(ren). One common measure is to order drug testing for the parent suspected of having a problem.

As part of the U.S.Department of Transportation’s (DOT) commitment to safety for workers and the general public, drug testing is required for what the department considers “safety-sensitive” employees.
