Genetic Reconstruction DNA Test

Determining DNA without a Direct Sample

If you need a DNA test but aren't able to provide a DNA sample from the alleged father, genetic reconstruction DNA testing might be the answer. Genetic reconstruction is the process of gathering DNA samples from secondary sources in order to construct a DNA profile when direct samples are not available. This can be incredibly useful in paternity tests where the father is not present to provide a sample, or in other tests in which parenthood is disputed.

At FastestLabs®, we conduct top-quality DNA testing of all types, including genetic reconstruction services. We are committed to the strictest industry standards in regards to accuracy, sample security, and timeliness. When carrying our genetic reconstruction, we strive to help you piece together complicated family puzzles in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

What Is Genetic Reconstruction?

Genetic reconstruction is the most reliable way to prove a genetic relationship between two or more individuals when one or more party isn't available. While not quite as accurate as a direct sample DNA test, genetic reconstruction is your next best option when a direct DNA sample is not available. This type of DNA testing is most commonly used for paternity tests, but can also be used to establish a genetic similarity between mother and child, grandparent and grandchild, siblings, and other familial relationships.

Genetic reconstruction is most commonly used when:

  • A potential father refuses to submit to a DNA test
  • A potential father is unreachable or had died
  • One or more parties cannot be present for a DNA test
  • An individual lives remotely and cannot provide a sample
  • One wishes to keep the DNA testing confidential

No matter the reason you wish to conduct genetic reconstruction DNA testing, Fastest Labs is here to help. Our friendly and knowledgeable team can answer any of your questions and address your various concerns throughout the process.

How Does Genetic Reconstruction Work?

When an individual is uncooperative or unable to provide a direct DNA sample, samples can be collected from close relatives. Typically, samples are needed from at least two relatives of the person for which you wish to create a genetic reconstruction. Relatives can include a parent, sibling, grandparent, or any other close, direct relative. Our certified collectors will obtain DNA samples from the relatives—as well as any other involved parties such as a potential child—in our clean, comfortable lab setting. Next, we will analyze all of the samples for repeating DNA sequences in order to construct an accurate, reliable DNA profile for the person in question. Once the results are available, they will be sent to you.
